Our History

In 1997, Carl Crittenden started Pest Management of Texas, Inc. with one goal: to offer the highest quality service at the most competitive price while retaining the approachability and community that only a small business can deliver. What started out as a “one-man show” just 16 years ago has blossomed into a thriving, 17 employee operation that still manages to deliver the same small-business feel it did on its first day of operations. Pest Management of Texas, Inc. has been labeled the “Fastest Growing Independently Owned & Operated Pest Control Business.”

Those early days, when Carl was not only the sole technician but the customer service and marketing department, gave him an excellent understanding of the importance of building personal relationships that last with his clients and making sure to deliver the highest possible quality of service possible. This same attitude of putting customers first and delivering the highest quality possible continues to be a hallmark of Pest Management of Texas, Inc. today.

Carl first got involved in the pest management industry at the age of 21. It was just one more way his concern for the safety of the public expressed itself. In May 1986, Carl started work in the commercial division of Sears Termite and pest control. He was made Service manager the following year, the youngest ever in Sears’ history. Six years later, he accepted a job as the Assistant Sales Manager for Orkin Pest Control. Three years later, he was promoted to Terminix’s Residential Branch Manager. Afterward, he would leave Terminix to begin work at Ideal Pest Control where he applied his training and was rapidly promoted to Marketing Manager. Five years later, and with more than a decade and a half of experience working at all levels in pest control, Carl felt ready to start his own business.

Carl sees pest management as just one more way to help keep the public safe. When he isn’t busy busting bugs, he’s out helping to patrol the streets of Lavon. He received his certification as a peace officer in 1988 and has spent two decades of his life helping to keep his customers safe from more than just pests. He finds that both jobs provide him the satisfaction of helping others, and he looks forward to helping many more.
